The Dragon’s Den is a unique bar, restaurant, and live music venue located on the corner of historic Esplanade Avenue and Frenchmen Street, the epicenter of live music in New Orleans. The Dragon’s Den, with it’s opium den vibe, is one of the longest running bars on the street, housed in a building that is over a century old.
Once home to famed British occultist Aleister Crowley, the Den also has it’s share of benevolent spirits. As a tradition, staff leave 2 shots of whiskey on the bar every night after close for our ethereal patrons.
As for entertainment, The Den’s eclectic calendar is one of the most diverse in the city, featuring everything from jazz, reggae, rock, funk, hip hop, burlesque, and edm.
The Den has three event areas: two bars and two live music stages, one on each floor, and a spacious, well-appointed courtyard area. The upstairs room also has a balcony that overlooks Esplanade Avenue, Decatur, and Frenchmen. Each area is available for private event rental. Visit our private events page to send us an inquiry!
Dragon’s Den is owned by The Maison Organization, which also owns 2 other venues in New Orleans, The Maison, located on Frenchmen Street, and The Hiho Lounge, located on St. Claude Avenue. We throw hundreds of the best events in New Orleans every month!
